Stage 3 ended with a fantastic sprint finish!

And the winner was Kiel Reijnen from the United Health Care Team
“I’m really pleased with the win especially after the work all my teammates did."

Brent Bookwalter team BMC

“There was a little bit of drama with the pace making to be honest. We had a real fast tail wind through Leadville. At one point we had a time check that showed a minute thirty, so we told the boys to back off, give them some time and chill out. Then literally five or ten minutes later we saw four and a half minutes. That was a little frustrating because the guys did such a good job to try to keep the break in check. I think the information was just inaccurate. We got back down to business, turned right into the lower slope of Independence, and it was really, really strong headwind. Kiel gave us a little help with some of his boys. They did a great job with of bringing up the pace and keeping that break in check, to make sure Dion didn’t slip away with to much time to take the jersey. Usually with Independence we take that left hand turn, maybe 7K from the top, and that’s when the pace usually ratchets up. That’s kinda when we let Rohan loose, and he pretty much did his thing to the top."
